The present disclosure provides luminosity projection compensation for transparent head-up displays (HUDs). A damaged portion of a vehicle windshield in an area near a transparent display (TD) of a head-up display (HUD) may be treated with a resin. The processed portion may introduce a luminance artifact into the image projected onto the TD. To compensate for an image projected onto the TD for luminance artifacts, a first pixel intensity adjustment value is received via the touch screen. Adjusting pixels of a reference image according to the first pixel intensity adjustment value to provide a reference compensated image, the reference compensated image, when projected onto the TD by a projector of a head-up display (HUD) system, counteracts effects of spatially varying reflective properties of a processed portion of the windshield that would otherwise occur in the reference image displayed on the TD without compensation.
