Comprising a gear, a bearing, a transmission shaft, a bevel gear, a differential mechanism, a differential mechanism air brake device, a differential mechanism half shaft, a speed reduction gear, a crankshaft, a crankshaft connecting rod, a piston connecting rod, a piston cylinder, a piston, an outbound oil inlet one-way valve, an outbound oil outlet one-way valve, a return oil inlet one-way valve, a return oil outlet one-way valve, an oil storage cylinder oil inlet pipe, a hydraulic oil electric control regulating valve, an oil storage cylinder and an oil storage cylinder oil outlet pipe. The device comprises a hydraulic oil radiator, an oil storage cylinder pressure relief oil pipe, an oil storage cylinder pressure relief valve, a cooling oil cylinder, a cooling oil cylinder exhaust hole, a pressure oil cylinder pressure relief valve, a pressure oil cylinder, a pressure oil cylinder oil outlet pipe, an oil pump gear, an oil pump, an oil pump oil inlet pipe, an oil pump oil outlet pipe, an air source, an air pipe and an electromagnetic air valve. The retarder is interconnected with output power of an automobile, so that transmission restraint is formed between the retarder and the automobile, gear connection or universal joint connection can be selected as required in an interconnection mode, and interconnection positions include but are not limited to an automobile transmission shaft, a gearbox and a hydraulic buffer reserved interface. The retarder has two working states, namely a non-intervention state and an intervention state; and the working state of the retarder is controlled by the differential mechanism. When the retarder is in a non-intervention state, the retarder does not generate reverse acting force, and rotation of an automobile transmission shaft is not affected. When in the intervention state, the retarder can generate a force in the direction opposite to the rotation direction of the automobile transmission shaft, and the automobile retarding effect is achieved.
