The invention relates to a method for controlling a railway system (1), in which at least one parking point (8) for a train (4) at which the train (4) is to be parked is provided by at least one control device (5), in particular a centralized control station, along a travel path (2) of the system (1), in which at least one protection section (12) is provided downstream of the parking point (8) in the travel direction (3), for the set parking point (8), the protection section remains free of train traffic. In order to be able to reduce the limits due to the required protection section (12), according to the invention, at least one track-side braking device (10) is activated in the protection section (12), by means of which the train (4) driven into the protection section (12) is braked. The invention further relates to a parking point device (6), a control device (5) and a railway system (1).
