The method comprises the steps that a monitoring signal of the forklift truck is obtained; based on the accelerator signal and the parking signal, the driving state of the forklift is determined; under the condition that the driving state is braking, if the portal bearing signal, the portal forward moving signal, the portal backward moving signal and the running speed signal meet the corresponding triggering conditions, the driving motor is controlled to start regenerative braking, and the first brake and the second brake are controlled to conduct braking according to the specified proportion; and controlling the first brake and the second brake to cancel braking until the vehicle speed indicated by the driving speed signal is reduced to the speed value indicated by the accelerator signal. According to the method, under the braking scene, the driving motor is triggered to start regenerative braking, the first brake and the second brake conduct braking according to the specified proportion, the braking performance of the driving wheel, the left front wheel and the right front wheel is improved, and the phenomenon that any one of the driving wheel, the left front wheel and the right front wheel is locked is avoided.
