The invention discloses an active equalization circuit and an active equalization method, and the active equalization circuit comprises a switch matrix, a photoelectric coupling module, a battery sampling module, a control module and a communication isolation module. Compared with a control module for controlling the on-off states of all photoelectric couplers in the photoelectric coupling module, the number of required output pins of the control module can be reduced, so that peripheral resources of the control module are effectively saved, the model selection space of the control module is increased, and the cost is reduced; meanwhile, the battery sampling module also monitors the voltage of each single battery, so that the photoelectric coupling module directly controlled by the battery sampling module does not need to consider the withstand voltage requirement, thereby increasing the model selection space of a photoelectric coupler in the photoelectric coupling module and reducing the cost.
