The method comprises the steps that in an electric four-wheel drive mode, driving parameters of the vehicle are obtained; when the running parameters of the vehicle meet the pre-starting condition, an engine pre-starting mode is started, in the engine pre-starting mode, an engine is started but does not participate in driving, and the electric four-wheel drive mode is reserved; and in the engine pre-starting mode, responding to a driving mode switching instruction, and switching to a direct-drive four-wheel-drive mode. By means of the scheme, the starting time of the engine is shortened when the electric four-wheel drive mode is switched to the direct-drive four-wheel drive mode, the engine can provide driving force for the vehicle in time, the generated power of a battery does not need to be occupied when the electric four-wheel drive mode is switched to the direct-drive four-wheel drive mode, and therefore the driving power of the whole vehicle is guaranteed, and the service life of the whole vehicle is prolonged. Therefore, the problem that power is insufficient when electric four-wheel drive is switched to direct-drive four-wheel drive is solved.
