An autonomous aircraft includes a tool-carrying body having a front side and a rear side, body sides connecting the front side and the rear side, and wherein the tool-carrying body includes a plurality of rotors and associated engines and power sources, the invention relates to a tool carrying body for an autonomous aircraft, and further comprising a flight control unit comprising a programmable computer unit, and wherein additional attachment means are provided for attaching the tool to the autonomous aircraft, where the tool carrying body has a longitudinal channel which is open downwards in use and spans from a front side to a rear side, and wherein the one or more tools may be removably attached to the autonomous aircraft. Further, a method of repairing a surface of a convex composite surface using an autonomous aircraft of the present invention is described.
