The invention relates to a method and device for determining the average energy consumption of a range-extending vehicle, the range-extending vehicle is driven by a range extender and/or a battery, the electric quantity of the battery is recorded as the charging quantity of the range extender and the charging quantity of a non-range extender, and the method comprises the following steps: determining the oil consumption of the range extender and the direct driving mileage of the range extender to the range-extending vehicle under the condition of determining that the range extender is running; the target range extender charging amount is recorded at present; wherein when the range extender and the battery drive the range extending vehicle to run at the same time, the electric quantity consumed by the battery is deducted from the recorded charging quantity of the range extender, and when the range extender charges the battery, the charged electric quantity is increased to the charging quantity of the range extender; under the condition that it is determined that the range extender does not run, the indirect driving mileage of the range extender to the range extending vehicle is determined based on the target range extender charging amount; and according to the oil consumption, the direct driving mileage and the indirect driving mileage, the average oil consumption of the extended-range vehicle is determined. Therefore, the average energy consumption of the extended-range vehicle can be accurately determined, and the user experience is improved.
