The invention discloses a barrel overturning and vertical mounting method and a hoisting tool, and belongs to the technical field of hoisting. The overturning method comprises the steps that the hoisting tool is connected with a barrel; lifting ropes are connected to the two ends of the cylinder, and a third lifting rope with a winding device is connected to the first end of the cylinder; each lifting point of the first end and a lifting point of the lifting appliance form a triangular structure; any two lifting points of the first end and the lifting point of the second end form a triangular structure; hoisting the cylinder, adjusting the hoisting length, keeping the posture of the cylinder to be balanced, and overturning; the vertical mounting method comprises the following steps: adjusting the barrel to be in a vertical hoisting state through a barrel overturning method; then the cylinder body is placed on the base; and mounting, fixing and dismounting the hoisting tool. The hoisting tool comprises a beam plate, reinforcing ribs and lifting lugs, the reinforcing ribs and the lifting lugs are connected to the beam plate, and the beam plate can be connected with the barrel. According to the overturning device, the large barrel can be overturned and vertically installed, stress balance of the large barrel can be kept, the state is more stable, and the overturning process is safer.
