The invention relates to a traction coupling having a coupling rod extending in the direction of a longitudinal axis, which coupling rod is mounted so as to be rotatable about an axis of rotation, the coupling rod also being displaceable in the direction of the longitudinal axis and having an end stop surface; the traction coupling has a pressure plate which lies opposite the end stop surface in the direction of the longitudinal axis, the end stop surface and a surface of the pressure plate facing the end stop surface being in contact with each other in a state in which the coupling rod is completely moved in the direction of the longitudinal axis, and the end stop surface and the surface of the pressure plate facing the end stop surface are in contact with each other in a state in which the coupling rod is maximally moved out in the direction of the longitudinal axis. The end stop surface and the surface define a maximum coupler joint gap. The traction coupling according to the invention is characterized in that the coupling joint gap is equal to at most 10% of the minimum distance in the direction of the longitudinal axis between the end stop surface and the axis of rotation in the maximum removed state of the coupling rod with reference to the intermediate position of the coupling rod, the coupling joint gap being in the range of 5 mm to 10 mm.
