The functional safety design method for the intelligent driving system comprises the following steps: dividing functional failure of a whole vehicle level of a vehicle into a first part and a second part; determining functional safety targets of the first part and the second part and corresponding vehicle safety integrity levels; decomposing the functional safety target of the first part into a sensing device, a control device and an execution device of the intelligent driving system so as to jointly inherit the vehicle safety integrity level of the functional safety target of the first part; decomposing the functional safety target of the second part to a sensing device, a control device and an execution device of the intelligent driving system so as to inherit a high-level vehicle safety integrity level of the functional safety target of the second part; and integrating the vehicle safety integrity levels of the functional safety targets of the first portion and the second portion.
