The embodiment of the invention provides a steer-by-wire device and a hand feeling feedback method thereof. The steer-by-wire device comprises a steering column, an upper steering control module and a mechanical damping assembly. The upper steering control module can be used as a main road hand feeling feedback control system, and hand feeling feedback torque is transmitted to the steering column in the first working state. The mechanical damping assembly can serve as a standby hand feeling feedback control system, and transmits frictional resistance to the steering column in the second working state to replace hand feeling feedback torque. Therefore, on the operation of the steer-by-wire device, when the upper steering control module is partially invalid or completely invalid, acting force feedback can be continuously provided for the steering column through the mechanical damping assembly, so that a driver keeps the operation hand feeling, and the safety and the reliability on steering operation are improved.
