The invention provides an aerogel composite material capable of being ceramized in situ and having excellent thermal protection performance as well as a preparation method and application of the aerogel composite material, and belongs to the field of composite materials. The aerogel composite material disclosed by the invention is composed of a fiber felt coated with a ceramic precursor and resin, wherein the ceramic precursor is a SiC ceramic precursor and a ZrC ceramic precursor. The aerogel composite material prepared by the invention has excellent ablation resistance and excellent heat insulation performance in a severe thermal environment. The aerogel composite material disclosed by the invention has a wide application prospect in a light thermal protection system.
