The invention relates to a method and a system for detecting thermal runaway of a battery, and a computer readable storage medium. The method comprises the following steps: receiving time sequence data from the battery, the time sequence data comprising voltage data of battery cells of a plurality of battery modules in the battery; determining the module voltage of each module of the plurality of battery modules and the dispersion degree of the voltage data of each battery cell according to the voltage data; and determining whether the battery has a thermal runaway risk or not based on the module with the minimum module voltage in the plurality of battery modules and the dispersion degree of the module.
