The invention discloses a ship grating planking modeling method based on an engineering template, and the method comprises the following steps: 1) creating a grating planking three-dimensional adaptive engineering template, and packaging the design input parameters needed in the grating planking design process in the engineering template; 2) creating a grating planking surface; 3) creating a grating planking opening; (4) grid bed board supporting columns are established; 5) drawing and material statistics; and 6) arranging the grating bed board, the ship body structure and the equipment under the same structure tree, and when the ship body structure is modified or the penetrating equipment shifts, re-reading the changed parameters by the engineering template in real time, and regenerating the adjusted grating bed board model. According to the method, the boundary needing to be selected and the defined parameters in the grating planking design process are packaged in the engineering template, so that the manual operation frequency of grating planking modeling is greatly reduced, and the design period is greatly shortened.
