A wheel brake device comprising a brake pad device (102) comprising a backing plate (116) arranged to support a brake pad (104) on a first surface of the backing plate for engaging a brake disc (106) in an axial direction of the brake pad device perpendicular to the first surface, and a resilient member (114) arranged to engage the brake pad (104) on a second surface of the backing plate. And a resilient member (114) connected to a second surface (120) of the backing plate (116) opposite the first surface and arranged to engage a stop lever (110), which in use extends across the brake pad arrangement (102) in an axial direction, the resilient member (114) being arranged to be tensioned during a braking action, and a resilient member (114) arranged on the brake disc (106) so as to urge the brake pad arrangement (102) in the axial direction away from the brake disc (106) upon release of the brake, the resilient member (114) being further arranged to generate a radial force component in a direction away from the stop lever (110) so as to prevent radial movement of the brake pad arrangement (102).
