The invention relates to equipment, a system and a method for controlling rear wheel steering of a vehicle and the vehicle. The apparatus includes a control device configured to: determine whether the vehicle is in a low traction condition based on a received signal; receiving a first signal indicative of a front wheel steering angle; determining a suggested rear wheel steering angle based on the first signal and whether it is determined that the vehicle is in the low traction condition; and providing an output signal configured to steer the rear wheel at the suggested rear wheel steering angle. If the vehicle is stuck or only runs slowly due to the traction force difference provided by the terrain on which the vehicle is running, the periodic steering of the front wheels designed to generate additional road holding force can be simulated through the steering of the rear wheels.
