The invention discloses a method for determining correlation of objects detected by a vehicle. The system is to receive a data log of vehicle travel. The data log comprises perception data captured by a vehicle sensor during driving. The system will identify the interaction time and a look-ahead lane based on the lane on which the vehicle travels during driving. The system will define a region of interest (ROI) that includes a lane segment located within the look-ahead lane. The system identifies an object detected within the ROI during driving of the vehicle based on the perceived data. For each object, the system will determine a detectability value by measuring an object amount detected by the vehicle. The system will create a subset containing only objects whose detectability values are at least a threshold, and classify any such objects as preferentially relevant objects.
