The invention relates to the technical field of underwater vehicles, in particular to a lateral thruster of an underwater vehicle, the underwater vehicle and a lateral thruster method of the underwater vehicle. A permeable space is formed on a main cabin section of the underwater vehicle, an annular shell is arranged outside the permeable space in a surrounding mode, and a driving assembly is contained in the permeable space and connected with an exposed part; the driving assembly drives the shell to open or close the water permeable space, so that the interior of the water permeable space is communicated with or separated from the water environment outside the underwater vehicle, and then the side pushing mechanism composed of the steering component and the side pushing component is contained in the water permeable space. An output shaft of a first rotary driving part in the side pushing part extends in the radial direction of the shell and is connected with a propeller, so that the output shaft of the first rotary driving part is rotationally connected with a second output shaft on the steering part, and then the steering part is used for driving the second output shaft to rotate around the axial direction of the shell; and therefore, the control difficulty is reduced, and meanwhile, the flexibility and the side pushing efficiency are improved.
