The invention provides a compression exhaust type retarding device which comprises a trigger controller and a compression exhaust retarder, the trigger controller comprises a horizontal control trigger and a brake pedal trigger, and the compression exhaust retarder comprises a transfer case and a compression exhaust acting device. The compression exhaust acting device comprises a connecting gear, a crankcase, a connecting rod, a plurality of single air cylinders and a piston, and is used for relieving the problem that a service braking device possibly loses efficacy due to overheating when a heavy-duty vehicle runs downhill for a long time.
