The invention provides a vehicle driving mode switching method and device, equipment and a storage medium, and relates to the field of automatic driving, and the switching method comprises the steps: obtaining the current driving speed of a vehicle, road surface information and the actual stress parameter of a steering wheel in an automatic driving mode; according to the vehicle load of the vehicle and the obtained driving speed and road surface information, the stress parameter threshold value of the steering wheel is determined, and the stress parameter threshold value comprises the threshold value of torque externally applied to the steering wheel; according to the stress parameter threshold value and the obtained actual stress parameter, whether the automatic driving mode is switched to the manual driving mode or not is selected, so that the automatic driving vehicle can accurately judge the takeover intention of the driver, the risk of switching the driving mode by mistake is reduced, and the driving safety of the automatic driving vehicle is improved.
