Techniques related to automatic driving are provided herein, in particular, but not limited to, a system that provides complete vehicle operation and control for smart connected vehicles (CAVs), in particular a collaborative automatic driving system (CADS). More specifically, the system manages and/or controls CAVs by sending detailed and time-sensitive vehicle lateral and longitudinal motion control instructions (including vehicle following, lane change, path guidance, and related information) to a single vehicle.
