The invention belongs to the technical field of robots, and particularly relates to an elastic potential energy automatic release mechanism of a jumping robot, which comprises a lead screw, a clamping and locking mechanism, a guide ring, a weight platform, a motor and a spring, the clamping and locking mechanism is arranged on the lead screw in a sleeving mode and can move up and down along the lead screw to be connected with the weight platform. The motor is located at the lowermost end of the lead screw and used for achieving vertical movement of the clamping and locking mechanism. One end of the spring is fixedly connected to the weight platform, and the other end of the spring is fixedly connected to the bottom of the inner wall of the shell of the jumping robot; storage and release of elastic potential energy of the spring are achieved through the same motor, no extra motor is needed for controlling energy release, more complex motor cooperation control is ingeniously avoided through a mechanical structure, the clamping and locking mechanism can be arranged in the center of the energy storage spring, the structure of the jumping robot is more compact, the extra size and mass are reduced, and the motion performance is improved.
