The invention provides a deceleration strip recognition device and recognition method. The deceleration strip recognition device may comprise: a vehicle network access device providing an access interface with a vehicle network; and a controller that acquires information about a position of the deceleration strip mounted on a road on which the vehicle travels, collects driving information about a driver driving around the deceleration strip from a vehicle network, and determines a type of the deceleration strip based on the driving information about the driver driving.
