A head-up display system includes a plurality of first in-vehicle sensors adapted to detect driving characteristics of a vehicle, a wireless communication module adapted to receive information from an external source, a driver monitoring system adapted to track eyes of a driver, and a controller in electronic communication with the plurality of first in-vehicle sensors and the wireless communication module, the controller is adapted to determine whether the vehicle is performing a parking operation and, when the vehicle is performing the parking operation, capture an image of an environment around the vehicle, detect an object in the environment, identify a location marker of a parking space and an object in the environment around the vehicle adjacent to the parking space, and determine whether the vehicle is performing the parking operation. A position of the vehicle relative to the identified position marker and object is determined, and a parking assist graphic adapted to provide guidance to a driver of the vehicle is displayed with a projection module.
