The method comprises the steps that the current state of the electric vehicle is monitored; if the current state is a charging state, prompting to select cut-off charging capacity; wherein the maximum value of the cut-off charging capacity is not greater than the preset maximum charging capacity; and charging the electric vehicle according to the selected target cut-off charging capacity. In this way, not only can the long-distance vehicle use requirement be met, but also the battery shallow charge requirement of a whole vehicle factory can be met, spontaneous combustion accidents of the battery of the new energy vehicle are avoided, and the use safety of the battery of the new energy vehicle is ensured.
