The method comprises the following steps: acquiring actual data of a vehicle, wherein the actual data of the vehicle comprises an actual vehicle speed and an actual steering angle of a steering wheel; according to the actual vehicle speed and the actual steering angle of the steering wheel, a first target return rotating speed is obtained; smoothing the first target return rotation speed to obtain a second target return rotation speed; and performing active return control according to the second target return rotating speed. The method can achieve the purposes that the aligning residual angle of the steering wheel passing through the middle position is small and the steering torque sudden change of the steering wheel passing through the middle position is avoided.
