The invention provides a clamping device. The clamping device comprises a connecting base, a translation mechanism, a clamping mechanism and a driving mechanism. The translation mechanism is rotatably connected to the connecting seat. The clamping mechanism comprises a first clamping piece and a second clamping piece which are hinged to each other, and at least one of the first clamping piece and the second clamping piece is movably connected with the translation mechanism. The driving mechanism comprises a first driving structure and a second driving structure, the first driving mechanism is arranged on the connecting seat and is in transmission connection with the translation mechanism, and the second driving structure is arranged on one of the first clamping piece and the second clamping piece and is in transmission connection with the other one of the first clamping piece and the second clamping piece; and the clamping mechanism is driven to be selectively closed or opened. According to the clamping device provided by the invention, an object can be clamped on the basis of translation, so that the clamping device can flexibly work underwater. In addition, the clamping device is simple in structure and convenient to assemble. The invention further provides the underwater robot.
