The invention discloses a balance arm of a tower crane and a mounting method of the balance arm, and the balance arm comprises an upper piece structure which comprises two upper chords which are arranged in parallel and at an interval; the two ends of the upper transverse rods are connected to the two upper chords respectively; one end of each upper diagonal web member is connected to one upper chord member, and the other end of each upper diagonal web member is connected with the tail end of the adjacent upper diagonal web member to form an upper diagonal web member group; the lower piece structure comprises two lower chords which are arranged in parallel and at an interval; the two ends of the lower transverse rods are connected to the two lower chords respectively; one end of each lower diagonal web member is connected to one lower chord member, and the other end of each lower diagonal web member is connected with the tail end of the adjacent lower diagonal web member to form a lower diagonal web member group; the multiple upper diagonal web member sets and the multiple lower diagonal web member sets are in one-to-one correspondence and are detachably connected. The balance arm can be transported separately and assembled on site to a construction site.
