An internal combustion engine (1) mounted in a series hybrid vehicle for power generation has an upstream catalyst converter (8) and a downstream catalyst converter (9) in an exhaust system. When the temperature of the upstream-side catalyst converter (8) is less than or equal to a threshold value when the internal combustion engine (1) is started, low-speed/low-load operation is performed such that the ignition timing is greatly delayed. When it is determined that warming up of the upstream catalyst converter (8) is completed on the basis of the amount of heat input, the operation is changed to a rotational speed and load such that the ignition timing is in the vicinity of the MBT point and in the vicinity of the optimal fuel consumption point. The operation of the internal combustion engine (1) is continued regardless of the power generation request until it is determined that the catalyst warm-up of the downstream-side catalyst converter (9) is completed. When it is determined that warming up of the downstream catalyst converter (9) is completed on the basis of the amount of heat input, stopping of the internal combustion engine (1) is permitted.

    用于发电而搭载于串联混合动力车的内燃机(1)在排气系统中具有上游侧催化剂转换器(8)以及下游侧催化剂转换器(9)。如果在内燃机(1)启动时上游侧催化剂转换器(8)的温度小于或等于阈值,则进行使得点火时机大幅滞后的低速/低负荷的运转。如果根据投入热量而判定为上游侧催化剂转换器(8)的暖机完毕,则向使得点火时机处于MBT点附近且设为最佳油耗点附近的旋转速度及负荷的运转变换。直至判定为下游侧催化剂转换器(9)的催化剂暖机完毕为止,无论发电请求如何都使内燃机(1)的运转持续。如果根据投入热量而判定为下游侧催化剂转换器(9)的暖机完毕,则许可内燃机(1)的停止。
