The invention relates to an emergency escape structure for abandoning a manned cabin and an operation method.The emergency escape structure comprises the manned cabin, a rigid supporting base, a submersible frame, a tensioning cable and a cutting mechanism, the manned cabin is a positive buoyancy cabin body, and electric power and signal transmission between the manned cabin and a submersible is achieved only through the tensioning cable; the tensioning cable penetrates through the middle of the cutting mechanism and is connected with the submersible frame, when a dangerous situation that the submersible cannot be released is encountered, personnel in the cabin can manually trigger the cutting mechanism to drive the cutting tool bit to cut off the tensioning cable, and the manned cabin is disconnected from all connections with the submersible and carries passengers in the cabin to safely return to the water surface under the action of positive buoyancy.
