The invention relates to a traction network for a motor vehicle, comprising a high-voltage battery, having a first measuring device for detecting a voltage of the high-voltage battery, a measuring device for detecting a voltage between a positive high-voltage line and the ground, and a further measuring device for detecting a voltage between a negative high-voltage line and the ground, the insulation resistance between the positive high-voltage line and the ground and the insulation resistance between the negative high-voltage line and the ground are equal or are balanced by a discrete balancing resistor, and having a grounded measuring resistor which is connected to the positive high-voltage line by means of a first switching element and to the negative high-voltage line by means of a second switching element, the traction network also has an insulation monitor device which is designed to carry out insulation monitoring by comparing a voltage between the positive high-voltage line and the ground with a voltage between the negative high-voltage line and the ground when the vehicle is in a stationary state, to calculate an insulation resistance by closing one of the first and second switching elements in each case when the vehicle is in a driving mode, the invention also relates to a method for insulation monitoring.
