The invention provides a barrel hoisting tool and method.The barrel hoisting tool comprises an annular base, connecting rod assemblies and at least two arc-shaped embracing rings, the annular base comprises an annular base body and a clamping mechanism, the number of the connecting rod assemblies is equal to that of the arc-shaped embracing rings, and the annular base body is connected with one ends of the connecting rod assemblies; the other ends of the connecting rod assemblies are detachably connected with the arc-shaped embracing rings in a one-to-one correspondence mode, the arc-shaped embracing rings are used for being folded to form a closed annular structure, the closed annular structure and the annular base body are used for being arranged on the barrel structure in a sleeving mode, the adjacent arc-shaped embracing rings are detachably connected, and the clamping mechanism is used for clamping the barrel structure in the radial direction of the barrel structure. The barrel hoisting tool can be connected with a barrel structure through the arc-shaped holding ring, the annular base body and the clamping mechanism, hoisting operation of the barrel structure can be achieved by arranging the lifting lugs on the barrel hoisting tool, and stability of hoisting operation of the barrel structure is improved.
