In exemplary embodiments, methods and systems are used to secure a vehicle. In an exemplary embodiment, a vehicle includes a vehicle body, a drive system, a brake system, and a processor. The drive system is configured to generate movement of the vehicle body and includes a motor. The brake system includes a friction brake that provides friction braking. A processor is provided on the vehicle, connected to the motor, and configured to at least: determine that a friction braking loss has occurred when the vehicle is capped off; and when it is determined that the friction braking loss has occurred, providing a command to the motor to provide a propulsion torque to secure the vehicle when stopped; wherein the motor is further configured to execute instructions provided by the processor to provide a propulsion torque.
