The invention relates to a pneumatic vehicle tyre having a radial design, comprising a tread (1), a radial carcass, a belt composite (8) with at least two belt layers (8a, 8b) and at least one belt strap layer (9) arranged radially outside the belt, wherein the belt strap layer comprises cords consisting of at least two multifilament yarns twisted with each other, which cords are arranged parallel to each other within the belt strap layer (9), and wherein the multifilament yarns consist of regenerated polyethylene terephthalate (rPET). An rPET cord (10) having an elongation of 2% to 5% at 20 DEG C at a force of 1.56 cN/detx, and an elongation of 6% to 9% at 120 DEG C; furthermore, the sum of the elongation at break of the rPET cord (10) and the thermal shrinkage determined at 180 DEG C is greater than 17% at a pre-stress of 0.01 cN/dtex and an action duration of two minutes; in addition, the thermal shrinkage rate of the rPET cord (10), determined at 180 DEG C, is greater than 2.5% at a pre-stress of 0.01 cN/dtex and an action duration of two minutes.
