The invention relates to a wheel slip enhancement function for heavy vehicles. A computer-implemented method for controlling at least one driven and/or braked wheel (102) of a heavy vehicle (100), the method comprising: obtaining a motion request (areq, Fx) indicative of a desired longitudinal acceleration and/or longitudinal force associated with the vehicle (100); and configuring a wheel slip limit value ([lambda] lim) as a nominal value, the wheel slip limit value ([lambda] lim) being indicative of a maximum allowable wheel slip of the at least one driven and/or braked wheel (102); and in response to detecting the enhancement signal (361), increasing the wheel slip limit value ([lambda] lim) from a nominal value to an enhanced wheel slip value, and controlling the at least one driven and/or braked wheel (102) in accordance with the motion request (areq, Fx) and limited by the wheel slip limit value ([lambda] lim).
