The invention relates to a haptic actuating device (100) having a rotatable actuating element (101), a magnetic field source (26) and a magneto-rheological braking device (1) for braking a rotational movement of the actuating element (101). The magneto-rheological braking device (1) comprises two braking parts (2, 3) which can be rotated relative to each other, one of which is engaged to the rotatable actuating element (101). The second brake part (3) surrounds the first brake part (2) as an inner brake part (2) as an outer brake part (3). A closed magnetorheological brake chamber (110) with a magnetorheological medium (6) and a circumferential brake gap (5) is formed between the two brake parts (2, 3).
