The invention relates to a control system and a method for controlling the traveling state of a vehicle. The system and control method are designed such that a rider selects an ABS travel mode as only a first fail-safe predetermined mode from any other modes based on a state parameter value (SPV) during its continuous travel. Accordingly, it improves the safety of the user since the user can only quickly change to the first fail-safe predetermined mode without focusing attention on the display. Accordingly, when the vehicle is traveling, the user does not have to be distracted by diverting the line of sight or attention from the road to the display.
