The invention discloses an automatic wire cutting method for an unmanned aerial vehicle. The automatic wire cutting method comprises the steps that S1, the total tension value borne by take-up and pay-off equipment is detected in real time; s2, whether the total tension value is larger than a preset tension value or not is judged, and if yes, the step S3 is executed; s3, starting a trimming trigger counter for timing; s4, judging whether the timing time is greater than the preset time or not, if so, executing the step S5, and if not, executing the step S6; s5, driving an electric wire cutting module to perform wire cutting operation; s6, the trimming triggers a counter to continue timing; s7, whether the total tension value is larger than the preset tension value or not is judged again, if yes, the step S4 is executed, and if not, the step S8 is executed; and S8, driving the trimming trigger counter to stop timing and reset, and returning to the step S2. The invention further discloses equipment for the unmanned aerial vehicle to conduct automatic thread trimming. The automatic wire cutting function can be achieved, the safety of the unmanned aerial vehicle and the take-up and pay-off equipment is guaranteed, and losses are reduced.
