The invention relates to a method for determining an achievable deceleration variable of a brake system of a vehicle (10), which brake system comprises at least one brake (1), comprising the following steps: providing an achievable control variable value corresponding to an actual control variable value that can be provided by the brake system, the at least one brake (1) is configured to generate a deceleration variable in response to a control variable of an actual control variable value; providing a brake system model which is designed to determine a deceleration variable of the at least one brake (1) from the input control variable value; inputting the realizable adjustment variable value into a brake system model; an achievable deceleration variable of the at least one brake (1), which corresponds to the achievable control variable value, is determined by means of a brake system model. The invention also relates to an apparatus, a vehicle, a computer program product and a storage medium for carrying out the method.
