The invention is suitable for the technical field of unmanned aerial vehicles, and provides a control system and method for an automatic cable take-up and pay-off device, the cable take-up and pay-off device is connected with a mooring unmanned aerial vehicle through a cable, and the control system comprises a sensing unit, a mode switching unit, a control unit and a driving unit; the sensing unit is used for collecting cable position information of the cable take-up and pay-off device and sending the cable position information to the control unit. The mode switching unit is used for providing a target mode selection signal for the control unit, and the target mode selection signal is used for indicating a target working mode, selected by a user, of the cable take-up and pay-off device; the control unit is used for generating a driving signal based on the target working mode and the cable position information and sending the driving signal to the driving unit, and the driving unit is used for performing driving control on the cable take-up and pay-off device based on the driving signal. According to the control system, the automatic take-up and pay-off function of the cable in the cable take-up and pay-off device can be achieved, and the safety and convenience of the unmanned aerial vehicle system are improved.
