This vehicle strength member is provided with a top plate and a pair of vertical walls, and is formed in a hat-shaped cross-section. In addition, the vehicle strength member is provided with a plurality of bent portions in the long-side direction, the bent portions being formed by bending the bent lines extending in the short-side direction, and the vehicle strength member is bent as a whole. The top plate has a recess extending in the longitudinal direction in the center thereof, and a pair of ridges extending in the longitudinal direction on both sides of the recess. In addition, the top plate is provided with at least one convex rib extending along the short side direction at a position corresponding to each bent part in the concave part, and two ends of the convex rib are combined with the side part of the protruding strip.
