The invention relates to a method for increasing the availability of an energy storage or conversion system. The present invention relates to a method for improving the availability of an energy storage or conversion (EST) system of a vehicle, the EST system comprising: a first electronic unit configured to provide EST condition data; and a second electronic unit configured to receive EST condition data from the first electronic unit through a first data transfer mode. The method includes transferring EST condition data from the first electronic unit through a second data transfer mode; receiving a fault or error with respect to the EST condition data associated with the first data transfer mode; determining whether an EST system standard is reached, the EST system standard including at least EST condition data delivered by the first electronic unit through the second data delivery mode being received by the second electronic unit; in response to reaching the EST system standard, the EST system is operated and the EST condition data communicated through the second data transfer mode is used despite a fault or error.
