A high power bi-directional charging system with a split battery architecture is disclosed. A bi-directional charging system may include a bi-directional charger and an integrated battery. The bi-directional charger is bi-directional, providing vehicle-to-grid (V2G) energy transfer capabilities from the power transmission network to the electric vehicle (EV), and power transfer capabilities from the integrated battery to the power delivery network and from the EV battery to the power transmission network. The integrated battery is divided into two parts. The first battery portion is a lower voltage battery that can directly feed an output direct current (DC) without a converter. The second battery portion is a higher voltage battery. The output power provided by the charger may exceed the voltage limit of a single electronic component by adding the output of the first integrated battery portion to the output of the second integrated battery portion.
