Comprising the following steps: acquiring a traffic signal lamp picture, and storing the traffic signal lamp picture as a JPEG image; reading a field of the JPEG image to obtain an MCU coefficient matrix; performing decoding calculation on the MCU coefficient matrix to obtain an RGB value of the traffic signal lamp picture; determining the color of the traffic signal lamp in the traffic signal lamp picture according to the RGB value, and judging whether the traffic signal lamp is abnormal or not; on the basis, a unified traffic signal lamp identification method can be provided for the driverless automobile, and meanwhile the calculated amount in the identification process is reduced.
