The invention belongs to the technical field of automobiles, and relates to a driver state monitoring system conforming to functional safety. The system comprises a sensing part, an operation part and a monitoring part. The sensing part comprises a camera module and is used for realizing facial state recognition of a driver; the operation part comprises a power supply module, a video processing unit, a CAN communication module and a data storage unit; the monitoring part comprises a micro control unit MCU; the camera module transmits a video signal to the video processing unit at a set rate, and the video processing unit processes the received video signal and is responsible for Ethernet transmission; the CAN communication module is responsible for CAN communication between the driver state monitoring system and the vehicle ADAS controller; and the MCU is responsible for monitoring the state of the video processing unit so as to detect errors in a program and can process the errors in real time when the errors occur. According to the system, the safety of a driver state monitoring system can be greatly improved, ASIL-level decomposition is performed on a hardware architecture system, the development difficulty of the system can be effectively reduced, and the development period of the system can be effectively shortened.
