The invention discloses an electric power assisted steering gear which comprises a steering shaft and a power-assisted motor, the steering shaft is connected with a double-worm driving assembly and a bidirectional transmission assembly, the output end of the power-assisted motor is connected with a speed reducing mechanism and connected with a transmission shaft through the speed reducing mechanism, and the bidirectional transmission assembly is connected to the transmission shaft and the double-worm driving assembly. According to the electric power steering gear, a single worm is arranged to be double worms, transmission between the two worm wheels and the steering shaft is changed through a ratchet wheel mechanism, therefore the single worm and the worm wheel only rotate in one direction, therefore, the situation that idling is caused by a gap generated during reverse rotation due to abrasion, and the response aging of steering is affected is effectively avoided, a detection part is arranged on the edge of the ratchet wheel mechanism, the detection part detects the relative rotation angle between the transmission shaft and a first gear, therefore the rotation time needed by the power-assisted motor to make up for the rotation angle is determined, and the travel time is shortened as much as possible, so that the response timeliness is improved.
