The invention discloses a jack following synchronous descending protection system and a control method. The system comprises mechanical screw type following supporting mechanisms, and hydraulic driving mechanisms are arranged in the mechanical screw type following supporting mechanisms; and the mechanical screw type following supporting mechanisms are further electrically connected with a PLC control system, the hydraulic driving mechanisms are controlled to rotate forwards and backwards through the PLC control system, and therefore following supporting and retracting of the mechanical screw type following supporting mechanisms are controlled. The method comprises the steps that before a hydraulic jack prepares to synchronously descend with load, the mechanical screw type following supporting mechanisms are started to retract; and when the PLC control system detects that the gap between the top ends of the mechanical screw type following supporting mechanisms and a counter-force supporting platform reaches a first distance, the PLC control system gives out a control signal and starts the hydraulic jack to synchronously descend. By means of closed-loop control of the mechanical screw type following supporting mechanisms and the PLC control system, smaller-gap tracking protection control can be achieved, and a bridge or a building is safe and reliable in synchronous fall-back construction of the hydraulic jack.
