The invention relates to a hybrid driving method for a trailer and the trailer. The method comprises the following steps: (1) monitoring the gradient of a road section where a vehicle is located by an angle sensor mounted on a chassis of the vehicle, and when the gradient exceeds 15 degrees, commanding a tandem hybrid power driving system on the semitrailer to operate by a computer on the vehicle so that the semitrailer is ensured to have driving force required for climbing; (2) monitoring the speed of the tractor through a low-speed radar sensor, monitoring the instantaneous angular speed of wheels through a photoelectric pulse meter installed on a chassis of the tractor, calculating the slippage rate of the wheels through a computer according to the speed measured by the low-speed radar sensor and signals measured by the photoelectric pulse meter, and when the slippage rate exceeds 10%, commanding, by the computer, a tandem type hybrid power driving system on the semitrailer to operate so as to increase the adhesive force of the wheels to the road surface. The trailer is provided with a corresponding structure capable of implementing the method. The problems that a trailer is insufficient in driving force and poor in power performance can be solved.
