The purpose of the present invention is to simply achieve provision of a sense of distance due to motion parallax. A display image is obtained by superimposing an image indicating a vehicle over a captured image obtained by capturing a view to the rear of the vehicle. For example, the image indicating the vehicle is a computer graphics image. For example, the superimposed positional relationship between the captured image and the image indicating the vehicle is varied in accordance with a movement in the viewpoint of a driver. The display image is obtained not only by the captured image obtained by capturing a view to the rear of the vehicle, but the display image is obtained by superimposing an image indicating the vehicle over the captured image. Thus, the provision of a sense of distance due to motion parallax can be achieved simply.
